Our hearts are heavy as we remember our beautiful girl, Millie, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 23rd, 2021, at the age of 17.
She was a feisty and loving lady, full of spirit and determination, with a heart that touched everyone who knew her.
Meeting Millie
Millie came into our lives alongside her brother, Gucci, both adopted from the same rescue centre. It was my twin sister who chose Millie and though our bond took a few days to grow, it soon blossomed into a deep and abiding love.
Our Life Together
Millie was a cat of independence, always ready for adventure. She had a particular fondness for the outdoors, where she would hunt for lizards and insects, demonstrating her fierce and determined nature. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore our community, befriending new animals or asserting her place as the queen of the neighbourhood.
Millie’s Personality
Millie had a wonderful playful side and she loved our games of chase. Whether it was around the house or through the garden, we would play tig, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. Her playful energy and adventurous spirit brought so much joy to our lives.
Our nightly routine often involved a playful standoff as I tried to coax her indoors for bedtime. Millie, with her stubborn streak, would sometimes refuse, letting me know with her confident demeanour that she’d stay out if she wanted. These moments, full of love and understanding, defined our unique bond.
Millie had a deep and special bond with her cat brothers, Gucci and Blacky. Despite her independent and adventurous nature, she always found comfort in their company.
Whether they were lounging together in the sun or playfully chasing each other around the house, Millie’s affection for her brothers was undeniable. She was protective of them, and they, in turn, admired her strong, determined spirit.
Their bond was a testament to the love and companionship that made their little family complete. Millie’s love for Gucci and Blacky was one of the most cherished parts of her life.
The Rainbow Bridge Calling
As the years passed, Millie faced a tough battle with tummy cancer. Despite the illness, she remained strong, her love for life never waning. She held on for over a year, surrounded by her best friends—Gucci, Blacky and her adopted Mum and Dad. But when her time came, her angel wings were ready to carry her to a place of peace and comfort.
I Love You My Darling
Though Millie is no longer with us in body, her spirit remains ever-present. I know she’s keeping me on my toes from heaven and I know, one day, we will be reunited in love and joy.
Rest in peace my sweet Millie. You will always be in our hearts, until we meet again.
